Through the life and poetry of Barbados’ poet laureate Esther Phillips, this film discusses the legacy of transatlantic slavery from the land of its origin. It is a story of overcoming brutal oppression, and the power of a nation’s resilience and perseverance. It is also, the story of a beautiful poet who processed all of this for herself, and in turn, for her country, and the world.
