New Media 2025: ‘Las Lap Afterlife’ by Rodell Warner

‘Las’ Lap Afterlife’ is an immersive event conceived by artist Rodell Warner. This one-night-only experience, which will transform Medulla Art Gallery into a space of memory and collective reflection, features a vast body of Warner’s moving-image works spanning the last 15 years, alongside processed public domain, found, and archival images. These visuals will be projected onto large-scale printed paper sheets that fill the room, creating a layered, living installation. Attendees become essential participants – by physically engaging with the projections, they bring the images fully to light. The event also features Wake the Dead, a live performance of modular synth compositions by @datgood_ (Kibwe Brathwaite). An interactive element allows attendees to select the visuals being projected, making ‘Las’ Lap Afterlife’ an ever-changing experience.
