TrudyLee Gayle was born in Toronto, Canada and is of Jamaican heritage. She holds a BFA, Honours degree in Dance from York University in Toronto and completed an Independent Study Program at The Ailey School (of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater) in New York, NY. She has toured and performed across North America with tribute bands: Legends of Motown and Wannabe: A Spice Girls Tribute as well as numerous stage productions. Select credits include – Mamma Mia!, Shrek The Musical, Hairspray & The Adventures of a Black Girl in Search of God, for which she is a Montréal English Theatre Awards winner (META) for ‘Outstanding Contribution to Theatre – Chorus’ and ‘Outstanding PACT Production’. On screen, TrudyLee can be seen in the Netflix mini-series, Self Made: Inspired by the Life of Madam C.J. Walker. Select national ad campaigns include: McDonald’s and TD Bank (Canada) & O2 Wireless (UK). As a choreographer and arts educator she has been commissioned to teach and create works by the City of Toronto, Ontario Provincial Advocate for Children and Youth, TD Bank and others. Riddim in Blue is her choreographic and directorial film debut.
