Debbie Ebanks Schlums (PhD York University 2025) is an interdisciplinary scholar, and multidisciplinary artist whose national and international social practice projects address migration, materiality, and Black/Chinese Caribbean histories. Her research exploring Jamaican diasporic archives culminated in the media sculpture, NansiRoachy, which activates the community’s co-created records and projects experimental films with contributions from the community. Debbie has exhibited at the Caribbean Tales Film Festival, the Mitchell Gallery; the Canadian Clay and Glass Gallery and the Museum of Dufferin; and, collectively with the Odeimin Runners art collective, at the Agnes Etherington Art Centre, Nuit Blanche and Images Festival.
