With a background in science, Jovan Lalla is pursuing a BA in Film Production at the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine. In 2021, he created his first experimental short film, ‘Plant Speech’, which screened at festivals in Trinidad, Germany, and Switzerland. In 2023, as part of his BA, he produced the documentary ‘Peko’, which follows a farmer in Paramin – a place tied to Jovan’s childhood. His on-location research has deepened his reverence for Paramin and continues to shape his filmmaking process.
