Annie Canavaggio

She studied Engineering at Boston University and later received her MBA from INCAE (Central American Institute of Business Administration). After having accumulated vast experience in the financial market, Annie made a 360 turn in life and went to England to pursue film studies at the London Film School. There she discovered her true passion: documentary filmmaking. Right after graduation, she devoted herself to making “Liza… Como Ella” (2004), a film that reveals the story of Liza, a transexual kuna (one of the many indigenous Panamanians). In 2014 she directed the feature documentary “Rompiendo la Ola”. Both films had extensive festival tours. Since then, she has been actively dedicated to developing her personal creative projects. In 2025 she completed two films: “Hijo de Tigre y Mula” and “En Busca del Indio Conejo”, currently in post-production.
