Malaury Eloi Paisley is a filmmaker and visual artist from Guadeloupe. After studying art and cinema in Paris, Montreal, and at EICTV in Cuba, she directed her first short film ‘Chanzy Blues’ and has curated auteur cinema in Guadeloupe since 2017. Her debut feature, ‘L’Homme-Vertige’ (93 min), shot between 2016–2023, premiered at Berlinale 2024 and received several awards, including the Golden Stallion of Yennenga and the Paul Robeson Prize at FESPACO 2025. She is a 2026 DAAD Artists-in-Berlin fellow in the film category. She is currently working on a hybrid documentary, ‘Memoirs & Fictions of an Island Before Its Vanishing’, and a multidisciplinary film installation with two other filmmakers between Guadeloupe, Brazil, and Senegal, in partnership with the Human Rights Film Festival in Guadeloupe and FLUP (Festa Literária das Periferias – Rio de Janeiro).
