Rhea Storr (b.1991 UK) makes films that consider Black and Mixed-race identities, in particular her own British-Bahamian identity. Masquerade as a site of protest is an ongoing theme, in addition to the effect of place on cultural representation. She is a former director of the film lab at ‘not nowhere’ an artists’ film co-operative, London. Recent screenings include New York Film Festival, BFI London Film Festival, CPH:DOX, Filmforum MOCA, Los Angeles, Antimatter Festival, Chicago Underground Film Festival, EMAF, Berwick Film and Media Artist Festival, Hamburg International Short Film Festival, Kassel Doc Fest, Alternative Film and Video Festival, Videonale and Alchemy Film and Media Art Festival. Screenings include Tate, Barbican, Somerset House and the National Museum for African American History and Culture. She is the winner of the Aesthetica Art Prize 2020, the inaugural Louis Le Prince Experimental Film Prize, the Royal Photographic Society Award for Creative Contribution to Art in Moving Image 2023 and the Kodak Award at Hamburg Short Film Festival.
