Film Festival proceeds to benefit hurricane victims

Proceeds from the screening of two Haitian films at the T&T; Film Festival will be donated to victims of the recent hurricanes that have hit Haiti.

According to Emilie Upczak, Associate Director of the Festival, as a measure of solidarity with our Haitian brothers and sisters, proceeds from the screening of the films Ghosts of Cité Soleil (poster above) and Eat, For This is My Body will be donated to the Yéle Haiti organisation, founded by the musician Wyclef Jean. Through Yéle Haiti, Wyclef – who is also the executive producer of Ghosts of Cité Soleil – supports projects that are making a difference in education, health, environment and community development.

This initiative is in addition to the benefit screening of Who Let the Dogs Out, a documentary about the plight of the nation’s stray dogs. The proceeds of that screening will be donated to the Animal Welfare Network.
