Event: BC Pires and his top ten Caribbean films

What are your favourite Caribbean films? Journalist, gadfly and cinephile BC Pires knows his, and he intends to talk about them at an event set to take place during the ttff/11.

Titled Men from Africa, Girls from India, Conquistadors from Germany and Some Cosquelle Rebels: A Personal List of His Ten Favourite Caribbean Films by BC Pires, the event happens at The Reader’s Bookshop, 1 Middle Street in St James, on Saturday 24 September from 6pm.

Pires will embellish his talk with clips from some of the films on his list, and discuss his choices. Disputations are encouraged.

Admission is free and drinks will be available.

Note: The above photo is a still from the classic Jamaican film The Harder They Come (Perry Henzell, 1972), which may or may not be on Pires’ list.
