Deneka Thomas is an award-winning Spoken Word Poet, writer, arts educator and activist from Trinidad and Tobago. She is passionate about working to empower and advance the rights of girls and women and of LGBTQI rights. Deneka is the Founder and Creative Director of On-Word Creative. She was the 2018 First Citizens National Poetry Slam Champion and is the 2nd runner up of the competition in 2019. She is Nominated to revive an award for Best Female Spoken Word Artist of Trinidad and Tobago by Trinidad and Tobago’s Youth Government. Deneka is a 2018 Woman Deliver young Leader. She is a Professional Spoken Word Artist and Teaching Artist with youth empowerment NGO the 2 Cents Movement.
