Short Drop

At a lonesome crossroad, a young woman waits on the taxi stand after partying late. With no public transport in sight at this hour, she begins to grow weary. Only a private car appears on the stand moments later. She approaches the vehicle hesitantly, but she decides to get in, since the driver convinces her that he’ll drop her off anywhere she wants to go. The driver eventually strikes up some awkward small talk, which she struggles to follow. As the car ride ensues, the young woman grows uncomfortable due to his unwanted gaze and prying conversation.

Romario Jose Reyes

Romario Reyes is an artist, animator, film writer and director hailing from the twin isles of Trinidad and Tobago. Romario’s unique background growing up in a family of artists was the perfect home for articulating his vision through visual story telling. During his art and film studies at high school and then at YTEPP’s Film Courses, Romario’s style drew inspiration heavily from much of Japanese culture and Caribbean influences to produce art in many traditional and digital mediums. Now, at 28 years of age, he continues his creative journey with his directing debut of the live-action short film, “Short Drop” which he premiered in December 2022. He currently works with the team at Liquid Matter Studios, a micro-company of local creatives that envisions and produces comic, manga, anime and film projects that have been recognized both locally and internationally.
