Julien Dalle

Julien Dalle is today recognized as an essential representative of the new generation of Caribbean directors. His first two feature films are screened multiple times in the West Indies each year, after making festivals around the world. « Retour au pays », also with Firmine Richard, was screened 240 times (09/2019) in Guadeloupe, which constitutes a record for a West Indian film. His writing focus is around contemporary Creole journey where he mixes Caribbean characters and universal narrative themes. Thus his films have both the authenticity of Caribbean characters, while allowing other viewers around the world to also identify themselves. For example, “Retour au Pays” was distributed throughout French-speaking Africa where it met with great success. Its leitmotif is to show images of the rest of the world to the West Indies and to show images of the West Indies to the rest of the world. Thus “Family Secrets” was filmed in London where 30 technicians and actors came mainly from Guadeloupe for the shooting. Today, after having lived and shot in London, Paris and Barcelona, he returned to live in his native Guadeloupe, where in parallel with his audiovisual business where he directs TV commercials, documentaries and institutional films, he works actively to promote West Indian cinema to a large audience with the help of its association ALMA (Association du Long-Metrage Antillo-guyanais). His three feature films to date all have their French exploitation visa. As an SACD member (French company of dramatic authors and composers) with screenplays for other feature films already registered, Julien Dalle will continue to develop new feature films in the years to come.
