Esteban Ramirez is a Costa Rican filmmaker who has achieved international acclaim. After attending the Graduate School of Sciences and Mass Communication in Costa Rica, he made several award winning documentaries and short films. C’aribe his feature film debut (2004) won 8 international awards and broke box office records in CR. The film was the first Costa Rican film to be nominated for an Academy Award for Best Foreign Film. His second feature Gestation won 9 international awards. Presos is his third feature film.
