Orpailleur (The Gold Forest)

Rod, a native of French Guiana, lives in Paris with his mother. When he receives news that his older brother Myrtho, a gold prospector, has allegedly been shot and killed in the rainforest, Rod returns to the land of his birth for the first time since he left as a boy. Along with his buddy Gonz, he heads via river into the forest, determined to discover the truth about Myrtho’s disappearance.

Arriving at a resort town, Rod and Gonz have a falling out. Gonz joins some gold prospectors, while Myrtho’s former girlfriend, Yann, decides to help Rod in his quest. After an encounter with a shaman, Rod and Yann head further upriver, where they are captured by illegal prospectors and taken to their camp. Here they discover Gonz being held captive, and what really happened to Myrtho. An audacious escape plan is hatched, but will the gold forest have the last word?
