In Santo Domingo, while others dream of migrating to the US, Miguel, a young Dominican, dreams of building a home on his island with his childhood love Laura, who lives under her grandmother’s roof. When the grandmother discovers her relationship with Miguel, Laura’s life changes forever.

Yanillys Pérez

Yanillys Pérez is a Venezuelan-Dominican director/writer/actress. She started her acting career in Santo Domingo, and continued her studies in London, New York and Paris. In 2011 she wrote, produced and directed On The Other Side (ttff/14). At present, she’s finishing a documentary, Esperanzas de Cartón. Her most recent short, Broken Ceilings (ttff/14), was a selection of the prestigious Clermont-Ferrand Film Festival in France.
