Mangroves

A man goes in search of something mysterious in the Trinidadian mangroves, unraveling a supernatural world as he races back to safety, before the sun sets.

A desperate man embarks on a journey into the intimidating mangroves in search of something mysterious. Lost and hopeless he’s not sure where to go. While there he faces surprises that cause him to question his surroundings, and he soon learns that he must race back to safety before sundown or risk encountering the terror that lurks in the mangroves at night.

Teneille Newallo

Teneille Newallo is an award winning filmmaker who started her career at Florida Atlantic University, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theater Performance. She has over 15 years experience on stage and on screen as a host and as an actor, both in T&T and the US in major productions like Bazodee and Play The Devil; and eventually also merged into screenwriting, producing and directing. The Cutlass, which made the shortlist for the Sundance Screenwriters Lab 2012, is Teneille’s debut feature-length film as a screenwriter, producer and casting director. It won multiple awards including both People’s Choice and Best Feature Film at TTFF, 2016 and at PBCFF 2018. Her screenplay, Soucouyant, now being turned into a TV series, also made the shortlist for the Sundance Screenwriters Lab in 2015. “Mangroves” is her debut short film as a director.
