Born in St. Elizabeth, Jamaica, Christopher Browne grew up living the simple life; no telephones, and no television until he was twelve. He was schooled at De Carteret College, Mandeville, Jamaica and later in England and the United States. Upon finishing his studies in 1984, he returned to Jamaica to work for various foreign film companies which used Jamaica as a location. He was the 2nd assistant editor on “Club Paradise” (1985) and assistant art director on “Cocktail” (1988). Browne directed his first feature film, “Third World Cop”, in 1999 (which he also co-wrote for Palm Pictures) and it premiered at TIFF. Browne’s second feature, “Ghett’a Life”, was the Grand Prize Winner of The Hartley-Merrill International Screenwriting Competition at Cannes Film Festival in 2006. “Ghett’a Life” was released in 2011. Browne is currently in development on his next film, “The Tenth and Final’ a rural love story set in the turbulent world of horse racing in Jamaica.
