In many ways, Torsten has been working on this story for 10 years: in 2009, during his MBA studies University of Oxford, he published a paper on alternative (paper) currencies; In 2013 he discovered Bitcoin and went down the rabbit hole; In 2014 he started work as co-director, producer and writer for his debut film, “Bitcoin: The End of Money as We Know It“. The film was released in 2015 and won 4 international film festival awards. The film became a viral hit and was one of the most pirated documentaries of 2015; Since 2012, Torsten has founded several start-ups and is a frequent speaker about technology trends at conferences such as MIPTV & MIPCOM (9 times), AIDC and Medientage. He also conducts 4k and VR workshops (Discovery Asia & NHK) and often speaks about blockchain-related innovation. His global media clients include Netflix, Deutsche Telekom, DirecTV, NBC Universal and many more.

From biographies to nuclear submarines, Michael’s storytelling experience crosses a broad range of subjects that have earned twenty-nine regional Emmy Awards and two national Emmy nominations. His works span award-winning science and nature documentaries, adventure programming, entertainment specials, video games and VR. To date, Michael has produced and directed more than 300 long-form narratives for television, six stereo 3D HD documentaries and he has been working in 4k since 2014. He is currently directing a 3D Virtual Reality series. Michael ‘s factual and entertainment content has been featured on TBS, History Channel, CNN, NatGeo, Sky, Amazon, CCTV and many other international broadcasters. Since 2011, Michael and Torsten have jointly worked on ten projects. They both co-directed “Bitcoin: The End Of Money As We Know It“ in 2014/15. As director of “CRYPTOPIA“, Michael’s role in the creative process is to craft Torsten’s vision and subject-matter expertise into a compelling narrative.
